It's 50 years ago today since decimal currency was launched in the UK to replace the old tradition of pounds, shillings and pence. Not everyone was convinced about the change though, and initially some shoppers and shops refused to take the new coins.

Our Form 3 children know all about the value of their coins and notes, having all opened shops at home during the last lockdown. And you can bet that, unlike the start of decimalisation, they were willing to take all the money offered to them!
