Life at Craigclowan

At Craigclowan we have created a purposeful academic environment to stretch every pupil, both the most capable and also those who need a little bit of extra support. We strive to do this in an enjoyable way and by providing the broadest possible range of opportunities. Our aim is to help you raise confident, kind, determined, adventurous and fun-loving children, who are equipped for life in a fast-changing world.

  • The day starts with breakfast club, for those who need it, from 0730
  • Meanwhile buses are collecting pupils for school bus runs in Angus, Fife, Kinross and Perthshire
  • By 0830, all pupils are on site and the day begins with registration
  • All children have lessons until break time at 1040 when they have a chance to run around and have a snack, which they bring
  • Lessons continue until lunchtime (1200 for Pre-school to Form 2 and 1300 for Forms 3 - 8).  Pupils sit at tables with their form class and are served by staff. After grace and some notices they are free to enjoy another break time, when they have supervised access to the majority of the school grounds or perhaps they may choose to visit the library or enjoy a club
  • Games lessons take place predominantly in the afternoons and children get to play the main team sports of each season in games lessons, while also enjoying some breadth in PE lessons
  • The teaching day ends for Forms 1 and 2 at 1530. For the remainder of pupils the day ends at 1600 (except on Thursdays in the Winter term when Forms 5 - 8 stay for Late Games)
  • Many pupils (of all ages) will stay on until later for extra-curricular activities or Late Prep (supervised homework club)
  • The last pupils leave school by 1800
