Match Report: Under 13 Boys Ruby Craigclowan v Merchiston Wed, 26th Sept 18

U13A Rugby v Merchiston

On a great day for rugby at Craigclowan, the boys in sky blue took on a skilful Merchiston team and demonstrated some determined and energetic play in a keenly contested match. Merchiston used their big runners well and moved the ball from side to side as Craigclowan carried hard and broke through many tackles.

In the end, Merchiston won by six tries to three (all converted by both teams) as their handling saw them take many of their chances. The Craigclowan lads stuck to their task and started to organise themselves very well in defence; marking players and moving up together. At the breakdown, the boys started to ruck with increased gusto and saw what is required to win quick ball.

Going forward, we will focus on looking after the ball in the contact area and make sure we help out players who are carrying the ball.

Moving in the right direction!

Under 13B  v Merchiston

A very tough afternoon. The plan was to play to our strengths and try to evade the tackle with good passes. Merchiston proved to be a little stronger, more dynamic in their attacking running and more committed in their tackles. Going forward, the boys must learn to protect the ball better in the tackle and ruck with greater conviction. I hope the boys learn from this experience and look to produce the performance that they are capable of in the remaining fixtures.
