Match Report: Under 12 Girls Morrisons Tennis Tournament

(10.05.16) The weather couldn’t have been better for the Morrisons U12 girls tennis tournament. Rosie, Alice, Iona and Kitty were all thrilled to be playing. Rosie and Alice were in the A section and Iona and Kitty in the B. There were six pairs in each group.

Iona and Kitty had a slow start as they were playing on hard courts which they aren’t used to and lost to Kilgraston 5-0. However, they stormed back in the rest of their matches winning three 4-1 and one 3-2. The match was decided on games won, so they finished 3rd equal even though they had beaten the eventual winners Dollar 4-1! They only lost one match, so can be very proud of their performance. Iona should definitely have won a prize for being the loudest and clearest at calling the score out and balls out!

Rosie came to the tournament fresh from her victories at both singles and doubles at the weekend in the Tayside Open. At the start, Alice may have been worried about playing with such a superstar and started off tentatively. They too, got off to a slow start but managed to sneak a 3-2 win, thanks to some amazing serving by Rosie. From then on, they went from strength to strength, with Alice gamely holding her own and improving with every match,  which was great to see. They remained undefeated and came in first place with 20 games won just ahead of Morrisons who had 18. They won all their matches and thoroughly deserved to be first.

Afterwards the girls enjoyed a well earned ice cream and are looking forward to the next tournament.

Thanks to Mrs Lee at Morrisons for running a lovely event.
