This morning in assembly I spoke briefly with our pupils about last week’s anti-bullying message which was to pay kindness forwards ‘one kind word’ at a time.  This is a simple concept, and relatively easy to get right, but also relatively easy to forget to do.  In our busy, swept up world we can become mesmerised by the tasks in front of us and the chatter around us and forget just how important those small acts of kindness are.  Leo Buscaglia, the American author, professor and motivational speaker (known as Dr Love!) summed it up perfectly:

‘Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around’.

So my challenge to our young people this morning was to put this into practise, to pay kindness forwards one act at a time and to fill our wonderful, caring community with kindness to carry us on a cloud of kindness to the end of term.

I will leave you with that challenge but also with this final quote:

‘In a world where you can be anything, be kind’.
