Benjamin Franklin is credited with coining the phrase, “out of adversity comes opportunity”.
As you may know, I’ve always been keen on aphorisms and sayings such as this and they have been instrumental in guiding me through some of the tougher times in my life. Along with our school value of Optimism, Resilience is the other that I have drawn upon in recent months. Indeed, because I have kept focussed on the universal truth that a positive attitude ultimately allows you to develop the strength of character needed to overcome adversity, I have been able to see that, even in the depths of this global crisis, there are good things happening and good times ahead. No one would wish hardship upon their children, however, there is some comfort to be gained from knowing that it might ultimately benefit them.
As they say, “adversity does not build character, it reveals it”.
