Rugby Match Reports Week Beginning 25.09.17

Under 13A Rugby Craigclowan v Merchiston

(27.09.17) Craigclowan took the trip to Merchiston intent on putting in a positive performance against a side that is always challenging to take on. We ended up succumbing to a 27-6 defeat, but the scoreline did not quite reflect the energy and enthusiasm the lads took to the game. Four tries were conceded over the opening period, but we certainly upped our level after the break despite conceding a further three. The boys in sky blue managed one outstanding individual try and another after some great phases of play.

There were stand-out performers again in the Craigclowan team, but every player made a meaningful contribution to the match over the period. We need to work hard on our defensive shape to ensure we are not all dragged into the breakdown.

The lads should be proud of the effort they showed today, but be determined to improve for what will be an exciting battle against our friendly foes, Ardvreck, on 11 November.

Under 11 Rugby Craigclowan v Merchiston.

A new and improved group of boys took to the field against Merchiston. They were full of aggression, desire and a fantastic team spirit. It was a magnificent performance which completely stunned the Merchiston boys. With the desire to win the ball in the loose, the excellent rucking and support play the opening score came quickly after the first whistle and then did not really stop until the end of the game. The Merchiston boys came back at us again and again scoring two excellent tries but by then our lead was too great for them to catch.

Very well done to all the boys in both teams for a great spectacle and some fantastic team rugby.
