Hockey Match Reports Week Beginning 13.11.17 - Fettes

(15.11.17) Our Under 13 A and B and Under 11 girls hockey teams played Fettes on Wednesday 15th November.

U13A - The girls started playing quite tentatively at the start against Fettes, and let 2 quick goals in during the first half. After a positive team talk at half time, they returned to the pitch with more confidence in their play, and quickly scored (Susie) to lift their spirits. They played some fantastic hockey in the second half, keeping their positions, and moving the ball around the pitch. We then got an equaliser (OJ), and so the score was level. They played a full 25 minute half, but at the final whistle the score was even.  Annie was captain for the match, and player of the match was Susie (chosen by Fettes girls). Well done girls, great hockey!

Final Score: Craigclowan v Fettes: Draw 2-2

U13B - The team got off to a hesitant start but soon started passing the ball around against a very strong Fettes team.  Fettes completely dominated the first half and had a lot of shots on goal, many of which were saved by Matilda.  Kinvara was strong and determined in midfield stopping much of the forward play by Fettes.  The second half was a different story and the girls came out and defended well.  The girls were a lot stronger and despite a big defeat they kept up their determination to the final whistle.  Ava was captain for the match and Matilda was nominated as player of the match for all her brilliant saves.  The girls showed true optimism and resilience in the face of a tough game!  Well done girls.

Final Score : Craigclowan v Fettes: Lost 0-8

U11 A team -The girls put in a really strong performance against a strong Fettes team. It was such a great game to watch as all the girls show lovely skills throughout the game. They really played well as a team and showed that over the term they have become a good strong unit.

Well done girls, a very close game and fantastic goal at the end by Iona to seal a win.

Final Score: Craigclowan 4 - Fettes 3

U11B Girls  - The Girls had a shaky start and were unlucky to lose some early goals, but once settled into the game they used the width and space well.  In the second half, the girls were like a whole new team! They passed the ball well and were driving the ball hard down the line and had some great opportunities to shoot at goal but luck was not on their side and the ball never got to the back of the net. Time ticked away and unfortunately we were unable to make up lost ground but the girls can be very proud of their efforts.

A particular well done to Lois, who stepped in to be the goalie at the last minute. We look forward to building on all of the positives for the Belhaven game next week.

Final Score:  Craigclowan 1 – Fettes 4
