Form 5 Trip to Inchcolm Island

(25.05.17) What an amazing day! The weather was outstanding, the water was calm and the children had a great day exploring the ruins of the Abbey on Inchcolm Island.

On board the ‘Maid of the Forth’ we set sail from South Queensferry under the Forth Rail Bridge towards Inchcolm Island.  The boat trip itself is great and the children thoroughly enjoyed using their binoculars to look out for seabirds, seals and killer whales (!)  Once moored at the island we first went along the old World War 2 tunnel to the East of the island however, the nesting seagulls made sure we didn’t stay long at the other end! We then set about exploring the Abbey ruins and enjoying the glorious view from the top of the tower.  After lunch and a wee play on the beach it was time to board the boat back.  On the way we travelled under all 3 of the bridges which was amazing.

A super day out!
