Form 4&5 Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Morning

(05.06.18)  There was a buzz of excitement in Forms 4&5 on Tuesday morning in anticipation of the annual Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Morning which had been devised and organised by Mrs Marjoriebanks.  The children were divided into teams of 4 or 5 to tackle 4 different challenges - one in each area of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The science challenge involved timing the time it took a "paper boat" to move across a tray of water once various soap solutions were dropped into the tray.

The technology challenge involved created a quiz on Kahoot software

The engineering challenge involved building a structure out of newspaper and masking tape that was to be strong enough to hold a Tunnocks Tea Cake on the top of it!

For mathematics, there were various problems to be solved for which there could be more than one answer.

This was then followed by a Maths relay.

The children were able to get hands on with all the challenges and had to work as a team with their team mates to get the best results for their team.

It was fun filled and educational morning....especially watching some of the newspaper structures getting very wobbly!
